Whether it is throwing shells or casting spells on the court as the Black and White Mage, it is a concept that is begging to make a return on the Nintendo Switch. It did what other Mario sports games did and added a whole new layer of mayhem. In any case, it’s a 3-on-3 basketball game that was a ton of fun on the original Nintendo DS. While technically, this is a Mario spin-off game, it is developed by Square Enix and features Final Fantasy characters in its roster, so it counts.
It’s a shame that Chocobo Racing 3D was planned for the Nintendo 3DS before being cancelled, as it would have been the perfect chance to revive this kart racing spin-off. The best part is that there are secret characters to unlock as well, like Cloud Strife, Squall Leonhart, and Aya Brea from Parasite Eve. Chocobo Racing had you racing with the likes of classic Final Fantasy mascots like Mog the Moogle, Behemoth, and Bahamut. If Crash Tag Team Racing can get an amazing remaster, then another PS1 kart racer should also join in the fray. While Bravely Default and its sequels would improve on everything The 4 Heroes of Light set out to do, it is still a worthwhile experience that fans old and new can enjoy and it masterfully threads the line between being both a homage and something original. The predecessor to the Bravely Default spin-off games, Final Fantasy: The 4 Heroes of Light was Square Enix’s attempt at modernising classic Final Fantasy gameplay for modern audiences. Players could also transform into iconic Final Fantasy characters, like Tifa Lockhart and Squall Leonhart, which acts as a sort of ultimate attack they can perform once they fill up the Trance gauge. What made Explorers different from Monster Hunter was the addition of classic Final Fantasy job classes, like Red Mage and Dragoon that really spiced things up.

The Crystal Chronicles sub-series has always been partial to Nintendo’s consoles and handhelds, and could never stick to one genre. This is one game that definitely belongs on the Nintendo Switch.įinal Fantasy Crystal Chronicles: The Crystal Bearers Tactics Advance can be quite a challenge to complete, and even offers two-player co-op and competitive modes. Its premise is a little more lighthearted than its predecessor, but don’t let its colourful artstyle and upbeat character designs fool you. Final Fantasy Tactics Advance was a great strategy RPG that was exclusive to Nintendo’s handheld and is also available on the Wii U Virtual Console. While the original Final Fantasy Tactics is amazing and was re-released on the PSP, its sequel could use some love as well. So a proper remastering of the game’s visuals that keeps the gameplay and story intact would be a great reintroduction to this forgotten game. Upon release, it was met with criticism for its mobile game veneer, with many feeling that the game looked cheap and felt like a fan game.

It was a worthwhile addition to the series that is perfect for fans who grew up with the SNES. The first full-length Final Fantasy game made specifically for mobile, Final Fantasy Dimensions and its sequel were a love letter to Final Fantasy V and its signature Job System.
